Summer arrived earlier than ever this year—right in the middle of winter—and was greeted by a full house at the Cineplexx Galerija cinema, where the Belgrade premiere of “Biće novih leta”, directed by Gvozden Đurić, took place.

The lively summer dramedy, inspired by true events and centered on an intriguing story about an unusual family vacation of the Škrbić family, captivated the audience who rewarded the cast and creators with thunderous applause and standing ovations at the end of the screening.

The premiere was preceded by a red‑carpet event where the film’s leading actors shared their impressions of this new domestic cinema release, produced through a collaboration between TS Media and Adrenalin Production.

Actor Zlatan Vidović, who plays the film’s lead male role—the well‑meaning but somewhat naive and hapless Andrija Škrbić, the head of the Škrbić family—said that audiences could expect to enjoy the hilarious adventures of a seemingly ordinary family.

“Even though their absurd decisions lead them into all sorts of trouble and bizarre situations, the Škrbić family ultimately shows, through renewed emotional connection, that the family is the nucleus of society—and I think that’s the film’s key message. Like every family, they have their quirks, ones we’re all familiar with, which is why I believe the film will resonate with viewers of all ages. I invite everyone to come to the cinema and discover a completely different—and I’d say almost phenomenological—story about summer vacation,” Vidović said.

Director, screenwriter, and producer Gvozden Đurić noted that he hopes the film would spark empathy in viewers.

“‘Biće novih leta’ is about how far we’re willing to go to preserve an idealized image of ourselves in the eyes of others—and how these so‑called ‘white lies,’ which I’ve explored for years, gradually turn into a pressure that crushes us from within. Although that pressure pushes the Škrbić family to the brink of collapse, they ultimately reconnect more strongly than ever. I tried to understand our protagonists, to empathize with them rather than judge them. I hope viewers will feel the same after watching the film,” Đurić explained.

The screenplay was co‑written by Uroš Tomić, author of the series “Grupa” and “Kljun”, who has a longstanding collaboration with Gvozden Đurić.

“‘Biće novih leta’ is an exciting and unusual, yet universal and deeply memorable dramedy—one that viewers will easily relate to. On the big screen, the audience will recognize all those unbelievable, often absurd situations we encounter in everyday life, but they will ultimately leave the cinema with a warm feeling, as if they had just watched a romantic comedy filled with genuine life lessons,” said the co-writer and producer, Uroš Tomić.

The Novi Sad premiere is scheduled for February 25 at Arena Cineplex, while the film will open in cinemas across Serbia on February 26.

The main cast includes Tamara Krcunović, Zlatan Vidović, Anđela Kribl, Mladen Lero, and Olga Odanović as members of the Škrbić family, while their summer misadventures are enriched by performances from Vahid Džanković, Stefan Vukić, Isidora Vlček, Dubravka Kovjanić, and many others.

The film is directed and written by Gvozden Đurić, with Uroš Tomić as co‑screenwriter. Đurić and Tomić also serve as producers, alongside executive producers Andrijana Zukić, Mirjana Jovašević, and Marija Vićić.

“Biće novih leta” was produced with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Film Center of Serbia, and the “Miloš Crnjanski” Cultural Center of Vojvodina.
