As part of the 38th Herceg Novi Film Festival, Telekom Srbija unveiled its latest TV series “Rock Me Gently”, produced in cooperation with Radio and Television of Montenegro (RTCG), with executive production entrusted to the production company Režim.
This original series, the first of its kind in the region, blends elements of romance, drama, comedy, and crime, delivering an exciting story about a woman’s emotional journey through unfulfilled dreams, love dilemmas, and family struggles.
The plot follows Sanja Popović, a former junior tennis champion, now a tennis coach in her forties, who—after a personal collapse in Belgrade—travels to Herceg Novi to reconnect with her estranged daughter. There, she seeks a fresh start, love, and purpose, but her past resurfaces, threatening to shatter her fragile new beginning.
The series presentation brought together the creative team and cast, who spoke about the importance of the project and shared their expectations for the upcoming filming. Aleksandra Martinović, Director of the Multimedia Division at Telekom Srbija, emphasized that “Rock Me Gently” reaffirms the company’s strategic commitment to continuously investing in premium original production and contributing to the development of the film industry both domestically and regionally. She added:
“We are especially proud that Telekom Srbija, through the project ‘Rock Me Gently’, is shining a spotlight on the dramedy genre—one of the most popular worldwide yet still underdeveloped in our region—and approaching it with the highest global production standards. The project features stunning locations in Montenegro and Serbia, filming in Herceg Novi and Belgrade, cutting-edge film technology, and an outstanding creative and acting ensemble. After bold steps in thriller, action, and fantasy genres in recent years, this project raises the bar even higher in both production and creativity, this time through a format that combines romance, humor, and layered human drama. „Rock Me Gently“ has clear potential to captivate audiences not only in the region but also globally, thanks to its strong artistic vision, original narrative, and high production value.”
The importance of regional collaboration was also highlighted by Gojko Berkuljan, Executive Producer at RTCG, who noted this project as an important step in strengthening regional ties and promoting Montenegro as a film destination:
“We are especially pleased that this model of cooperation is expanding on a regional level. As a minority co-producer, RTCG has the opportunity to work with Telekom Serbija on such a significant production. It is important to note that a large part of the series will be filmed in Montenegro. We have full confidence in the project and the creative team behind it, and we are certain that audiences will thoroughly enjoy it,” said Berkuljan.
The main role of Sanja Popović is played by actress Tamara Krcunović, who is also the series’ co-creator and producer. Speaking about the project, she said that the series is of special importance to her, as it fulfills her long-standing wish to create a dramedy centered around women and their perspectives on life:
“After years of producing theatre plays and selecting texts and creative teams, this is the first time I’ve had the opportunity to co-create the very script of a series together with my collaborators, which has been both a new and invaluable experience. I am especially grateful that Telekom Srbija recognized and supported a project that combines dramatic tones with elements of a romantic comedy.”
Directors Nevio Marasović and Sandra Mitrović also emphasized that working on the series is both a professional challenge and an inspiration. Cast members Teodora Dragićević and Andrija Kuzmanović expressed their pride in being part of the project and their excitement about filming, much of which will take place in Herceg Novi. They are joined by an exceptional ensemble, including Nenad Jezdić, Lazar Dragojević, Nebojša Dugalić, Olga Odanović, Dara Džokić, Ivan Bosiljčić, and many others.
Filming began recently in Belgrade, with production moving to Herceg Novi at the end of August. In addition to “Rock Me Gently”, Telekom Srbija also presented several new and upcoming projects at the Herceg Novi festival, including “The Will of the Son”, “Abduction”, “12 Words 3”, and “Your Name is Varvara”, once again confirming its strategic role in developing audiovisual production and positioning the domestic film industry within both European and global frameworks.
